The First Day of Creation

I wanted to write something inspiring for the first of the year, but without God I can do nothing.  I had to get a word from the Lord because I wanted to express his heart on this day.

One of my resolutions was to read the entire Bible straight through in a year (in order) again.  So, this morning I read Genesis 1 again.  It’s amazing that no matter how many times you read the Bible, God continues to show you things that you didn’t notice the previous times you read the same scripture.  So, I was pleasantly surprised when I began reading this morning and the Lord showed me something about the first day that I just had to share.

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Genesis 1:1-5

Verse 1 – When God created the heaven and earth, I heard him say, “Heaven is my throne and earth is my footstool.” [Acts 7:49] Through this act God placed us beneath him and gave us a view of the heavens that is so infinite that it has no end.  We call it sky.
Verse 2 – As I read this verse, I remembered how I was before I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.   Darkness consumed me.  I was depressed.  There was a void in my heart.  I had no form (purpose/direction/identity).  Then, the Spirit of God moved on my heart and changed my countenance (attitude/expression).
Verse 3 – And God said, “Let there be light” and there was light.  My heart was awakened to His love; My burdens were lifted; My sins were forgiven; I was healed;  I was born again; a new creature with a new hope.  I was light.
Verse 4 – And God saw the light and it was good.  He separated me, who was now light, from the darkness of my past.  Over time, I no longer desired the things that dishonored him; I no longer wanted to be around people that were reveling in sin; I no longer wanted to harbor anger, pain, resentment, bitterness and evil in my heart, and God rejoiced in my new birth.  The angels in heaven celebrated too.[Luke 15:10].
Verse 5 – God called the light, Day and the darkness night…and the evening and the morning were the first day.  As I contemplated this scripture, I was tempted to start researching the meaning of day and night, but the Lord said, “Stay here with me. You don’t have to verify what I am saying to you.”  So, I did and He showed me how we began our New Year’s Day celebration at midnight (the first day).  We went to sleep for a short time and when we awoke, it was still the first day.

This may not seem so deep to some of you, but it wasn’t about deep.  It was about having relationship and conversation with God through His Word. The Word of God is life.  God is alive and speaks to those that listen.   I pray that you continue steadfast in the Word of God and allow Him to commune with you.   When God, the Father and His Son, Jesus reside in you, the Holy Spirit is also in you, and He will guide you into all truth.   Every question you ever had about God will be answered through your faith in Jesus.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.  Hebrews 11:6

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  John 14:6

If you are feeling lost, confused, depressed or if you just feel like something is missing or you have questions about God that no one has been able to answer to your satisfaction, please Contact us.  We would be happy to pray with you and answer any questions you might have about starting a relationship with the Lord. Just keep in mind, this relationship is made in faith, so you don’t have to clean yourself up to be accepted by God.  All you have to do is be sincere.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  Romans 10:9
